Cultured pearls are formed by inserting a bead or other 'nucleus' into a mollusc; this is then covered by the host in layers of pearl nacre (the same material that lines the shell).
These classic little pearls have a lovely lustre; the overtones on them range from silvery to slightly gold or a touch of pink.
