Chalcedony is a fibrous microcrystalline that contains small crystals of quartz. Its name is derived from the ancient Greek town known as Chalkedon in Asia. It is found in all parts of the world. In ancient times, due to its durability, it was used for making man made weapons, tools and utensils. As time went on, it become more and more civilized, it was made for making decorative items and storage boxes, like pencil boxes and jewellery boxes. Large pieces were used for creating beautiful art pieces by efficient carving.
